Log or Cabin?

I've seen some pretty cool structures made with logs. But Piet Hein Eek's Tree Trunk Garden House is the simplest and most modern example of cordwood masonry I've seen. I think this would be perfect in my backyard...

I've been fascinated by the emergence of shipping containers as a building material. Manifesto House by Infiniski goes one furhter by incorporating wooden pallets, yet another by-product of global shipping.

Infiniski's mission is to build homes cheaply and quickly using sustainable materials while incorporating renewable energy systems.
